84 Years and She’s Still Standing!

On October 6, 1941, the Key West Citizen shared big news !! The Key West Woman’s Club had found its forever home! That fall, our members gathered for the very first time inside the brick building at 319 Duval.
Since that day, “Eleanor” as we lovingly call her, has stood tall at the heart of our island as a place for women to unite, to serve, and to make a difference. She’s seen it all: the Monroe County Public Library in the 1940s, generations of volunteers, and a whole lot of laughter and love.
Eighty-four years later, we are still here…preserving history, empowering women, and giving back to the community we love. 💗

Key West Woman’s Club establishes CFK scholarship

KEY WEST, FL, May 28, 2025— The College of the Florida Keys (CFK) Foundation received $5,000 from the Key West Woman’s Club to establish a scholarship in their name. Five awards of $1,000 each are available starting this upcoming academic year. Interested students are encouraged to apply online by June 30 at cfk.edu/discover/cfk-foundation/scholarship-info/.

Established in 1915, the Key West Woman’s Club is the longest-standing nonprofit in the Florida Keys. For over a century, they have united women with purpose—working together to support local nonprofits, promote education, and preserve the historic Hellings Curry Museum.

“Supporting education is one of the most powerful ways we can live out our mission,” said Aundrea Wagner, President of the Key West Woman’s Club. “In keeping with our commitment to education, we are honored to fund a scholarship through our partnership with The College of the Florida Keys. This scholarship reflects our dedication to empowering local students and strengthening the future of Monroe County.”

Key West Woman’s Club is thrilled to announce the Key West Historic Days Celebration, a four-day event commemorating the Club’s 110th anniversary and the rich history of Key West. From April 3–6, 2025, the celebration will take place at the Hellings Curry Museum, the historic home of the Woman’s Club, located at 319 Duval Street, Key West, FL 33040.
This unique event will feature a variety of activities designed to highlight the Club's longstanding community contributions and the island’s vibrant heritage. The celebration kicks off on Wednesday, April 2, with a special screening of Reap the Wild Wind at the Tropic Cinema, followed by an introduction from Dr. Corey Malcom and Dr. Marlene Thorn, offering insight into the upcoming festivities. Throughout the weekend, guests can enjoy free docent tours of the Hellings Curry Museum, the Oldest House, and the Red Barn Theatre, along with live performances by local musicians such as the Key West High School Steel Drum Band and Conch Fusion.
Attendees will also experience a variety of cultural activities, including a Conch Cooking Competition, a culinary panel with Chef Martha Hubbard, and a keynote address from Susan Mitchell, highlighting the significant contributions of the Key West Woman’s Club. A special After Party on Friday features live music from The Privateers Band, while Saturday’s festival day includes local artisans, food vendors, and a raffle. Sunday concludes the celebration with a traditional High Tea, offering a relaxing end to the weekend.

As President of the Key West Woman’s Club and Project Manager for this preservation effort, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this achievement possible. The 2025 KWWC Wearable Art Fashion Show celebrates the creative talents of Key West’s fashion community—students, hobbyists, and professionals. Designers will compete for $1,500 in cash prizes across three categories: Up-Cycle, Couture, and Costume. The event also supports the next generation of fashion talent by awarding Creativity in Design Scholarships to Key West High School students pursuing careers in fashion design or merchandising.

The 2025 KWWC Wearable Art Fashion Show celebrates the creative talents of Key West’s fashion community—students, hobbyists, and professionals. Designers will compete for $1,500 in cash prizes across three categories: Up-Cycle, Couture, and Costume. The event also supports the next generation of fashion talent by awarding Creativity in Design Scholarships to Key West High School students pursuing careers in fashion design or merchandising.
